Someone (maybe Mick?) pointed out the difference in Slater’s stats vs RHP and LHP.

My question — is there an overall MLB or even league stat showing the “average” differential for ALL batters? What is typical? (I’m guessing switch-hitters would have to be excluded, although those stats would also be interesting.)

This is from a poster I trust on another site.  Per Baseball Savant. 2023 numbers:

All are OPS

Overall         .734

RHB vs LHP.   .758

RHB vs RHP.   .713

Differential.   0.45

LHB vs RHP.     .751

LHB vs LHP.     .689

Differential       0.66

Hope so. Black is 2-1 with a 1.01 ERA and a 0.900 WHIP in AAA. He had a 6.97 ERA in spring training and gave up three home runs and 16 hits in 10 1/3rd innings in spring training, but I am informed by a reliable source that spring training statistics don't matter. I wonder which matters more, spring training stats or AAA stats? Guess we're about to find out.

Maybe.  I heard FZ on KNBR yesterday. They are hopeful that Snell will be ready when they get home and that he’ll only miss one or two more starts.  if that’s the case, I doubt they call up Black, primarily because he’s not on the 40 man roster. If Snell is going to be out longer, I think they will call up Black FZ also made it clear that he’s in “consideration.” (Personally, i’d like to see Snell do a rehab start or two in Sacramento. Next time he goes on the mound, I want him to actually be ready to pitch in a major league regular season game. He wasn’t prior to his injury.)

it was interesting interview. He’s always very personable. Also talked about Slater and his difficulties. Pointed out that the Giants have seen very little left-handed pitching this year and Slater at bats have been sporadic. Making it more difficult. Certainly true. But I’m not sure the leash at this point is all that long on Slater.
