On the other hand, Yaz hasn't been an all-star player in years, now hitting .130 which exceeds Matos, Fitzpatrick's and Slater's collective .000 in 17 plate appearances. Estrada's at .174. Flores is about average at .269, OPS .653, but lots of Dodger pitching in there. Expensive acquisitions Chapman (.184), Soler (.209), Jung Hoo Lee (.255), Murphy (.111) are underperforming. Nick Ahmed's at .222, about what we'd thought and better than Crawford's .167 for St. Louis. JD Davis has faded after a torrid start. Joey Bart is tearing the cover off the ball, hitting .375, OPS of 1.319.
Hicks has a 0.75 ERA. None of the other starters have an ERA better than 4.76. Star closer Doval has a 6.75 ERA. Team ERA is 5.42, 14th of 15 NL teams.
Giant OPS is 12th of 15 NL teams, runs scored is 11th.
They're still getting it together. Last year's team started 6-13 before going on a 55-36 tear, which -- unfortunately -- they couldn't keep up. At least they got rid of the unstable players from last year.
