I think the timing makes sense. Women's basketball and college sports is changing quickly

Take it with a grain of salt but there is a lot of speculation about Kiki Iriafen (so stay off twitter/instagram!) and if she'll transfer since I believe she will get her degree this year.

Also, regarding Bobk's note of grad x-fers needing to have applied for grad school already -- I did not realize this. Obviously it makes many a long shot, but perhaps it's why Katelyn Chen announced her enter into the portal unconventionally early? Even if she did not think she would for sure choose Stanford, perhaps it was part of knowing she wanted the option so she would need to decide earlier than others
