This is an assumption I'm not willing to make. To me, Stanford lost to Oregon last year more because its offense did not do its job. What was it, three turnovers? Luck had a pick six. Fleener was terrible, Ertz and Owusu were both out, and both Stanford OTs were beat up. It also struck me that Stanford didn't use Luck as a running threat at all. He was a very stationary target in that game.Â
Now you have Hogan, a QB who is making teams defend the whole field, and is a running threat, plus a deeper Stanford OL, against a very suspect and beat up Oregon defense, so I'm not sure Stanford's offense isn't going to be better this year than last. I know Stanford's defense is going to be better. If Stanford can run on Oregon like Cal did, Stanford will be right in the game until the end.
