As I posted over a month ago, it’s yet another .500 season, early elim from the PAC-12 tournament and no Dance. I don’t know why I should care about Stanford men’s basketball under Hasse and Muir anymore.I care because I really like some of the players a lot and because of a stubborn remembrance of what Stanford basketball has been.
But further to your comment, for many years it seems like for every brilliant win, there's soon a stinky loss that quickly tarnishes any hope of playing into the postseason.
Undoubtedly true! It's hard to figure out what explains this maddening pattern.
I'm not sure why everyone is having such a tough time figuring out what happened here. When we beat UW 90-80 about a month ago at Stanford, Spencer Jones played 32 minutes, shot 10-17 [with 8-12 from the three-point line] and scored 30 points. Last night, when we lost by 20 points, Spencer Jones played 28 minutes, shot 1-6 [with 0-3 from the three-point line] and scored 2 points. That's a 30 point differential in the scoring margin [+10 to -20] with a 28-point differential in Jones' points.
Seems pretty clear to me...
