There is an old adage that says something to the effect that if you don't learn from history, you are destined to repeat it, and from my perspective we are repeating it. Israel is ill served in my opinion by not having term limits. While I have no known Jewish ancestors, I have family members who have married into the Faith. One, whose family fled Russia and eventually reached the United States was always concerned that the leaders of Israel would always assume that the United States would bail them out of any mess they couldn't handle. I don't think he ever considered this kind of "mess". Sadly, he is no longer with us.
There are many more references to Bibi's support of Hamas to avoid a two state solution.
As we have very clearly shown, it is easy to attack the attacker, but it is far more difficult to create an environment where the attacker can no longer recruit more attackers.
For those who haven't read it, I suggest reading Mao's treatise on Guerilla Warfare. Written as a result of his conflict with Japan, much of what he says applies now, at least from my perspective and experience in the 1960's
