For those, like me, who might need to look up "A-50" I've done the work for you.  

An A-50 is the Russian comparable plane to the US AWAC.  Not as good and built using a 1970s transport airframe but meant to do a similar job.  If Ukraine can back them further away from Ukraine airspace this would effectively limit Russian visibility - how much damage that would do I'll leave to folks more informed than me.
