Personally if I were Cal I’d rather have San Jose State’s Brent Brennan than continuing with the current staff, but Cal is so hopelessly mediocre they probably do have to think about being careful what they wish for.

It's not their mediocrity that precludes changing staffs. It is the fact Cal can't afford the ridiculous buyout required to do so. Maybe in two years when it gets more reasonable :-).
