Ukraine may be using the winter weather that makes Russian air considerably less useful to "make hay while the sun doesn't shine". This works fine until the weather clears :-).

Exactly so. Ukraine is hedging their bets by getting F-16s, but these will not be available until next year sometime. I hope they have a "plan b" to deal with Russian air in south Kherson Oblast. If they don't, further advances will be very, very costly.
