Zaidi recently discussed last year’s situation. He acknowledged a strategic error - putting all his eggs in the Judge/Correa basket. When neither panned out, he had to scramble to fill out the roster with other free agents.
He indicated this year he will not be focusing all his energy on a particular free agent (see Ohtani). Instead, he will employ a strategy that is more inclusive of the entire class.
