Think this is a good read on the situation. I think as things have developed, Netanyahu's free pass is getting withdrawn a bit. But Israeli political leadership may feel they have no choice but to proceed with a big shock and awe campaign to appease their public.

Hamas leadership has said they will return all hostages within an hour if the bombing campaign stops. The domestic political issue of the hostages is an explosive one already. How that develops will also influence things in the days to come.

Very dangerous moment in the Middle East. I am sure Biden will counsel for caution, but I just don't know much sway he will have.
