 It is like asking a wishbone team to go into the shotgun and run an air raid offense.

What a great metaphor for a sport board!  But more seriously, thank you for the thoughtful and comprehensive reply.  1) Lack of the proper equipment (air power,) 2) doctrinal inertia, and 3) insufficient training seem to assure a war of attrition. 

My guess--Ukraine needs to make significant progress this year or early next, since if this drags into a third year the crushing weight of numbers will drag it down.  The longer it goes the worse for the smaller country. 

Makes me think negotiations should be starting sooner rather than later.
