Great thread.  A minority (no pun intended) of people overestimate Stanford's football cache here.  Additionally, the 40 year decision becomes diluted when NIL money comes into play.  Put the $500k or more potential NIL money some 5 star athletes might receive (especially the ones that might not get drafted) into the market at age 18 and compare that to typical earnings of a Stanford grad, and the picture becomes murky quick.
