Essentially due to the casualties taken when trying their NATO style armored breaches, they’ve switched back to using small groups of dismounted sappers to clear paths prior to bringing in more troops and armor. This explains the slow but methodical progress we have seen in the counter offensive. Harrowing since the dismounted sappers are very vulnerable, relying on stealth and lack of mass to avoid fire.
