Well, I may not know a lot, but it was obvious to me the Heat would no longer double team Jokic, would leave him in isolation in Game 2 and lead to him scoring 40. It would only work if he also couldn't setup his teammates for easy looks. The 4 assists for Jokic meant it didn't. Combined with the fact he isn't a dominant defensive player, and MPJ playing poorly, the Heat got a narrow win.
You have to give the Heat a lot of credit, but they must shoot 50% from 3pt range to win in playoffs it seems. How many teams could win playoff games shooting that percentage? The Nuggets need to recognize this and shoot more 3pt shots themselves. They only attempted 28 to the Heat's 35 in Game 2. When both teams are shooting a similar percentage from 3, that is a big difference.
The box score form Game 2 is nutty. It takes everything that seemed obvious and put it on its head. That is that the Nuggets starters are better but the Heat bench is better, and the Nuggets get killed in non-Jokic minutes. Don't understand why they didn't ride Braun for MPJ in second half. I've always had reservations about MPJ and Aaron Gordon just not being quite consistent enough. My Denver sweep prediction was predicated on both playing well. Only Gordon has. They need MPJ to play better to win.
Miami can only win if they make about half their 3pt shots. I just don't see this happening 4 games in a series.
