This is the first Stanford baseball game I have seen this year, and I was stunned to see our team ERA is nearly 6 (and then even more stunned that we got a top 8 seed). The trend doesn't look very good in the last three years with the pitching; the Esquer era actually started off pretty well in terms of pitching/team ERA. I get the analytics of baseball have changed the game, and that compared to softball, the wins above replacement a pitcher can provide is lower, but at some point, you have to have at least adequate/mediocre pitching. And sadly, our team ERA/the performance I have seen so far says we are not there.

I don't know how the NIL works at Stanford though I gather Stanford donors are participating. That said, I'd vote for a sum of money being offered to our top two pitching recruits. I gather they are likely to each be drafted early and may appreciate some financial incentive thrown their way to come to Stanford. Man do we need an infusion of good pitching.
