Because their guy going tonight has a sub 4 ERA (and apparently their other guy available has been solid), I assumed they had a couple guys behind their two studs who could be trouble. I don't think Stanford has a third - and obviously a fourth - starter that I would put any trust into. Then again, to your point, their team has been giving up runs so hopefully we can put up a ton ourselves as we'll certainly need them.
Some of Oregon's pitching woes are associated with their better ERA guys apparently not being able to go very many innings, though some of that could be in comparison to Stanford and a reflection that Esquer tends to have a slow hook.
The guy I am imagining might start tonight has a sub 4 ERA, but he also has rarely gone very long in a game. His longest outing was his most recent, 6 innings vs. last place Utah. Other than that, he's never gone more than 4 innings and his other recent efforts were 2+.
The guy I think is second most likely to start (Spoljaric) also had a good, long outing vs Utah but has been up and down with an ERA of 5.63.
Both have been good at times - which also goes for much of Stanford's staff.
Both these guys are frosh from Canada - so I'm inclined to cheer for them when they are not playing Stanford.
