Note to anyone who thinks you can buy championships….

San Diego with the third highest payroll in the game ($246 million) is currently 20-25 with a .194 team BA with runners in scoring position (no team in the history of the game has ever finished the season below the Mendoza Line). 

Meanwhile, the Giants are finally beginning to reap the rewards of a strong farm system (kinda like LA).

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in strategic additions via free agency but wholesale spending is not the answer.

Dang, if only Judge had said yes……..

I really like seeing homegrown players succeed. I don't know why they should be any different from other players, but I feel like this is my order of preference:

1) Homegrown players drafted by the Giants.
2) Players that the Giants get for (almost) free, like Yastrzemski.
3) Players that the Giants get in trade on a more or less even basis.
4) High priced free agents.

I root for all of them, but I'll buy tickets to see stars, and players drafted by the Giants, especially if I've seen them play for the San Jose Giants.
