I guess it its possible Ukraine executed these attacks as "live-fire exercises" for their new Storm Shadow capability. They may have picked a relatively "easy" target to work out the kinks and validate that they could indeed execute these types of mission. There may have been some "lessons learned" that allow them to fix the remaining problems, if any. The WW II analog would be sending new pilots/crews on missions into France before sending them against the Germans. In this case, it does give up an element of surprise, but it may have been decided that would be better than "wasting" some warshots on a training run inside Ukraine.
