More on Patrick Bailey…
Prior to the 2020 MLB draft, Keith Law of The Athletic rated Bailey as the #10 overall prospect. Here is Law’s summary:
“Bailey is a no-doubt catcher with good instincts on both sides of the ball, solid contact rates with a little pop. With catching a perpetual area of need in the majors, I would expect Bailey to go in the same range as Shea Langeliers (#9 last year), maybe higher since there isn’t another catcher above him.”
I have a great deal of respect for Law’s assessments. Prior to Bart’s selection as the #2 overall selection in the 2018 draft, he wrote (paraphrasing) Bart struggles to make consistent contact. That comment has proven to be 100% accurate.
