Circling back to the main topic, I thought this was a very interesting article basically diving into the orders Russian units receive and lack of any adaptability to circumstances on the ground.

Basically it came down to
X:00-T:00 Artillery fires blindly to blanket the target area. Drones are used at the end to assess damage and plan firing for the next day, not for re-directing fire.
Infantry attack with tanks + BMPs with no air or artillery support
They try to make progress until the can't, reserves come to dig in to try to consolidate gains.
No coordination between troops and artillery or air. Limited and/or unencrypted communication, so everything proceeds based on time on the clock/schedule, not based on communication or facts on the ground.
