Really? What about the Syrian civil war, with over 600,000 casualties estimated so far? Going back further in history, the Spanish Civil War comes to mind, with ~500,000 dead. I would think that's the tip of the iceberg.

Three years ago, I would have said that America would never ever tolerate a needless loss of such an enormous number of lives.
