If the stories of how Correa ended up with the Mets are accurate, the Giants never got a chance to negotiate an insurance clause. Once Boras (Correa’s agent) learned the Giants were hesitant, he contacted the Twins and the Mets and the Mets deal was done in a couple of hours.
