Judge received a $400 million/10 year offer from San Diego and said no thanks.  

Outsider - when are you going to learn money is not always going to be the answer.  Heck, the Pads lost out twice this year on premier free agents despite making substantially bigger bids. 

Players choose where they want to play based on multiple factors.  In Judge’s case, I would guess that playing on the biggest stage in the game for the most storied franchise was a significant reason for his decision.  

Next year, we will go through this process all over again when Ohtani hits the market.  Please be ready to be disappointed when he selects the Dodgers as his new employer.

Agree on Judge.  But here’s the other thing  - there are several others out there worth signing - starting with Tier 1 :  Correa, Boegarts Swanson Rodon 

Tier 2. Nimmo Senga 

Tier 3. Bassitt Taillon (if still available) Taylor Rodgers. 

To name a few.  They need to sign one of the SS’s. An SP. And Nimmo.

Do that, nice winter. Miss on all Top Tier and there’s trouble.  Excuses don’t cut it. It’s a results business. Giants essentially whiffed in ‘21.  Can’t do so again.

Taillon signed with the Cubs.

Nimmo, Correa, Senga, Rogers would do quite nicely, thank you very much.

A bit more on Judge.  Evidently, once a the numbers lined up, the notion of legacy played a big part in his decision.  It is hard to beat the Yankee mystique and becoming a legend there tops becoming a legend anywhere else.  If he can continue to produce big numbers and help his team win championships, a monument and captaincy await. For a ballplayer, it doesn’t get much better than that.

I think it's really hard for those tall, lanky sluggers to continue producing. The Yankees are going to pay Judge until he's 40. Frank Howard (same height) matured late as a hitter -- like the big guys do -- and had his best years -- all-star years -- from ages 30-34. Marked dropoff from age 33 (44 HRs) to age 34 (26 HRs) and age 35 (10 HRs in 368 ABs). That's where Judge is headed, I think. I think has two more great years left in him.

Kingman managed to hit 35 HRs his age 37 year, but was such a creep that he couldn't find a team to play for in his age 38 year.

Judge is 6’7. 280.  Not exactly lanky. Frank Thomas closest I can think of.  Hit well in late 30’s. 

Frank Howard played  at a time where conditioning wasn’t as scientific.  And he was no where near the athlete Judge is. 

Plus the DH will help.
