Is Luck getting too much hype? Or too little? I worry a bit when any player gets put on a pedastal too early, but Luck has been pretty amazing (of course, it helps to have an all-world WR making one handed catches on deep throws or holding onto the ball in tight coverage.)
This article put Luck's early season success in some context:
The article is a bit over the top, but it's been pretty stunning to see him perform at such a high level so early. I find it interesting that his pass efficiency stats are somewhat mediocre (25th in the league with a 77.1 rating), given how much positive impact he's had. I guess 3 INTs in the first game created a bit of a whole to climb out of. I've watched much of his first four games, and he still has a tendancy to "force it" when the play isn't there sometimes. He could have 2-3 more INTs if defenders had held onto the ball (though who knows if that's any different from any other QB.) But it's amazing to see him out there throwing lasers. Part of me wondered if Phil Simms was on to something about being able to make those fastball throws, after watching Luck win with "touch" most of his time at Stanford. But it really shows how much Luck held back on his ability in order to meet the quality of his receivers at Stanford.
Oh, and how cool is it that he shows up A Rodgers in their first pro-match up? We've heard non-stop for the past 3 years from across the Bay that despite all his accomplishments in college, Luck would never be as good as AR in the NFL. And Luck outplays him as a rookie?!?
I can't wait to watch this guy continue to evolve.

Quote:Hes the first rookie to throw for 1,200+ yards and lead his team to two wins in his first four starts. Whats he going to do in four more games? Even better wheres he going to be in four years?
