These advances in Kharkiv directly threaten main Russian rail and road supply lines. Either directly or by allowing Ukraine to get artillery closer in range. And these are some of the first offensives Ukraine has really embarked on in this war against ostensibly entrenched troops. So to see Ukraine succeeding, on two fronts at the same time, is very heartening. It will probably still be a while before Kherson or another large city is taken, but now it at least seems feasible.
