What makes you say that, the fact the Giants aren't even listed on the table of possible buyers?

One data point from that analysis that is obvious but also paradoxical. Everyone thinks expanding the playoffs increases the number of teams that can win it all. While this is true, the reality is the expanded playoffs mean you have to be an even better team than previous WC entries to go further because there are more teams to beat and more games to play.

Eduardo Perez on the Sunday Night broadcast said the Mariners probably don't go out and get Castillo if the Wild Card was just one game, but the fact it is a 3-game series means you need more elite starting pitching to advance.

Giants fans like to talk about 2014 as a reason they should stand pat to "get it and see what happens," but they fail to realize they only had to win 1 WC game in 2014. Does anyone think they would have beat the Pirates 2/3 games in Pittsburgh that year?

The Giants do have Webb and Rodon as top of rotation studs, but the bullpen is not good enough, the defense is awful, and they don't have any star offensive players. We saw in the NLDS last year that you need some offensive stars to win and this year they have even less star power.

Farhan and co. have to realize the teams already better than them are going to make moves to get better. So even standing pat is falling further behind the teams you must pass and a reason to trade everything that isn't nailed to the floor.
