We made noises about the risk of a wider conflagration every time we give Ukraine a weapon that could theoretically be used to attack Russia proper.  It was true about jets, which now Ukraine is starting to get, it was true about HIMARS, until we got assurances that the Ukrainians would not use it to target Russian territory, and hopefully, it will be true about ATACAMS.  My guess is that we are waiting to see how Ukraine does with the HIMARS, and if they are responsible and effective, there will be discussions about ATACAMS under the same circumstances.

As for the blockade, Russia attacked Odessa yesterday, within 24 hours of the agreement, and the day before the Russian foreign minister went to try to rally support in Africa. Russia is like honey badger.



I think the grain agreement is doomed.  It’s time we act accordingly.
