Beyond the anticipated expansion of NATO, which is big news in its own right, the US is significantly increasing its military presence in Europe. This is a major move to deter and control Russian aggression. Given the resources the US will have to devote to maintain this larger military presence, I think we can rest assured the US is committed to very significant military aid for Ukraine in the coming years. There’s still plenty of uncertainty how this war will play out, but the risk that the current administration will lack the will to proceed seems smaller now than it did yesterday.
