Read today that Giant are “main threat” to Yankees in signing Aaron Judge. Let’s assume he’s not resigning and is an FA.  What I don’t want to see is indications that the Giants are “in the sweepstakes”.  Unless they actually sign him. They will know going in it’s going to take a ton of money.  The excuses for not signing him will be the usual - he will be 31, back end isn’t good, ballpark etc.  Thing is, they will know all that going in.  And that they may have to pay a premium due to the park factor (although Judge would be coming home. And grew up a Giants fan.)

My point is simple - if they decide to pursue him, they need to be “ all in.”  Commit to whatever it takes.  Otherwise, don’t pursue him in the first place.

Aaron Judge turned down a 7-year contract for $215M from the Yankees. Judge reportedly wanted 10 years and $360M. He now leads MLB in every meaningful production category for a hitter and is outperforming the Yankees offer.

The same reporter who said the Yankees see the Giants as the biggest threat to sign Judge, says the Angels are recruiting him.

I simply don't buy the Giants being serious about Judge. There is no evidence to suggest the Giants are prepared to win a bidding war for the best players in MLB. But I have full confidence in their ability to come in second.
