Read today that Giant are “main threat” to Yankees in signing Aaron Judge. Let’s assume he’s not resigning and is an FA. What I don’t want to see is indications that the Giants are “in the sweepstakes”. Unless they actually sign him. They will know going in it’s going to take a ton of money. The excuses for not signing him will be the usual - he will be 31, back end isn’t good, ballpark etc. Thing is, they will know all that going in. And that they may have to pay a premium due to the park factor (although Judge would be coming home. And grew up a Giants fan.)
My point is simple - if they decide to pursue him, they need to be “ all in.” Commit to whatever it takes. Otherwise, don’t pursue him in the first place.
