If I was the NBA I’d end testing and the protocol for the rest of the playoffs.   Let the teams and players handle it as they would any virus. It’s been 2 years. Name me ONE NBA player that has had any serious consequences from Covid. From the perspective of NBA players, it’s no different than a flu at this point.  And a mild one at that.

true that. but the reason for masks is primarily to protect others, not the wearer - especially those over 60. for your plan to work, the teams would have to isolate in a bubble with no fans. with time i could name you a million americans who have suffered serious consequences from getting too close to someone with covid: death.

Are you suggesting that fans are at risk from getting Covid from players with Covid? I highly doubt that. The much higher risk is getting it from the other fans.  

Further, if you are in a high risk category - don’t go. 

No worries, however, as there is no way NBA will end protocols etc.

family members, friends, trainers, and, sure, fans in the first few rows. and any of those can pass the virus on to their parents, aunts, uncles, teachers of their children, etc. that's how epidemics work. that's how you get to a million dead in the us alone. and counting. to bring a big number closer to home, 1 in 334 (in millions) equates to about 50 deaths for a group of 18000 (the size of an arena audience. no, not specifically the warriors arena; just visualize a group that size). 

and that's just deaths. 25% of the us population has had covid. of those, 20% suffer from long covid. that's 5% of the population or 900 of a group of 18000.  not sure why no nba players report long covid. being young doesn't help. maybe being in great shape does. if so, it won't help the spouses and kids that players infect.
