I don't remember if this has been posted yet, but it's a video from YouTuber RealLifeLore on why Russia invaded. It left me with the impression that control over oil and gas resources is a very large part of the story. Which still makes sense with any refocused goal of controlling Ukraine's eastern regions.

Some are likening Mariupol to the Alamo. I would dearly hope that is true, but I don't see how Ukraine can produce a subsequent San Jacinto.
