I don’t know how they estimate that 20% of Russian forces have been lost, but it does square with the fact that up to six Russian generals were killed (out of 20, I believe), and that Russian deaths are somewhere in the high single digit thousands (if you add captured, injured, and deserting soldiers it is easy to get to ~20%), in which case, wow.
If Ukraine can surround and neutralize a portion of the soldiers in the outskirts of Ukraine, it adds to that.
