Start by reading all the Tony Hillerman mysteries. Then take a couple of weeks at the old inn in Monument Valley but insist on the room that John Wayne lived in.

When you return read the Halberstam baseball books starting with “The Teammates.” Watch Ken Burns “Baseball.”

If you live in a mild climate go see some early high school baseball in late February and college baseball in early March. Cross your fingers that MLB comes to its collective senses.
