When Texas is paying athletes 100k per year, including for WVB, what is Stanford gonna do?
This is the mess the NCAA has created by not making athletes employees and capping compensation. It's now the WILD Wild West, with no regulations, and a total free for all. It's like the Lord of the Flies now.
I'm getting more turned off college sports every day and my passion for it is almost gone.
Have to agree. Screw it all.
I was reading some of the comments posted following the article, the most interesting one to me was the issue of taxes owed by the players to the feds and the states, and if the players or the NIL group does not set aside sufficient funds life could get a bit interesting for the player(s).
Another comment was along the lines of...............the old Southwest Conference is alive and well. All Texas has left to do is to get academic waivers so going to class is not required anymore, that is assuming it was required in the first place.
This really fine mess may provide sufficient cover for some colleges and universities to junk at least Division 1 athletics.
