I'll bet there is the next Urban Meyer out there coaching HS or Div II or III.  A great football mind and a great motivator.  We can get that guy for a lot less money than a "name brand" D1 HC.  The problem is identifying him and then keeping him once he is successful at Stanford.  But, I would rather have the problem of keeping a coach with a winning program than the problem of having a losing program.

Absent monumental changes happening in the next 40 days from within his program, I think it is time for Stanford to move on from David Shaw.
