Mark Canha? Maybe. Bellarmine, Cal, Oakland A's. Poor average (.231 but .344 OBP), led majors in HBP (27), some power (17 HRs), scored 93 runs. Made $7 mms. last year.
Taylor rejected QO. Give me Marte and Taylor. Semien probably too rich for their blood. Castellanos value goes up with universal DH. He’s a lousy OF. And, of course, job 1 is starting pitching.
Marte and Castellanos are the non-pitching free agency names being associated with SF. However, I think pitching comes first. Per Scott Harris, the Giants’ GM, they are close to signing a couple free agent pitchers (announcements expected within a couple weeks, pending the avoidance of a lockout).
Great. But timeline is dependent on market. If they have to strike now on Marte etc or lose them , strike now. There will be $ for pitching.
