Taylor too inconsistent. Great for a couple weeks and then big slump.

A lot of players are streaky offensively.  Taylor also brings excellent defense at several positions. And speed. An element the Giants need.

Small sample sizes can create an argument for any player being inconsistent. A look at Taylor's full season statistics over the last five years show a pretty consistent player:

OBP: 354, 331, 333, 366, 344
SLG: 496, 444, 462, 476, 438

2017-2021 his full season OPS+ ranged from 107 to 127.

During the same period Crawford ranged from 74 to 141. Brandon Belt from 97 to 160. Evan Longoria from 91 to 124. Buster Posey from 83 to 140.
