How about making him to A.D. so the football team can try something different?
Shaw could win again ("Bigly") if he would crank up recruiting (This class is shaping up pretty good) and get back to what made Stanford a force in the P12: Power Running out of heavy formations, combined with more power running out of heavy formations, along with even more power running out of heavy formations. It's the foremost way Stanford went to Rose Bowls in '12, '13, '15, and came within one possession of going to another in '17.
Stanford WAS different during those seasons. They played a unique brand of football that produced championships. I'll get excited about Stanford football if and when they return to running the Power O system on offense. Stanford's opponents used to hate its offense for two BIG reasons: 1. They physically punished, even humiliated defenses. 2. Would not let their offenses get on the field. Playing "keep-away" drove opposing coaches, players, and fans wacko, while Stanford plowed their way to Pasadena.
I think Stanford could get back to this brand of football and I hope they do. Bring it back, David, bring it back.
