Shaw now has 3 DLs this year after getting 3 DLs last year. Those are good numbers. Some of those guys were more lightly recruited, but that’s more a result of failing to land the priority recruits than failing to recognize the need. I’m not totally against recruiting another really solid DL recruit for ‘22, but I’d be interested in knowing how the scholarship numbers look. Does a 4th DL mean only 2 WRs? If so, I might balk.

There are 59 scholarship players in the ‘19-‘21 classes, and they presumably will all return, plus hopefully Pakola. There are 21 entering scholarship players already committed in the ‘22 class. That’s 81. There are 13 fourth year seniors and 7 fifth year players currently on scholarship. I’m not familiar enough with the COVID eligibility rules to know whether any fifth year players could return. And we know the staff is pushing to land Bailey and Reuben. So here’s the question:
Are there fewer than 2 guys likely to return for a fifth or sixth year in 2022?
