And coincidentally Hershiser's streak was also preserved via a controversial overturned call vs the Giants. SF scored a run during a force out at second base followed by an overthrow to first base. But Paul Runge ruled that Brett Butler had interfered with the fielder at second and declared an inning ending double play instead. This was during the 43rd inning of Hershiser's streak; the Drysdale call was during the 45th inning of his streak.
