Quote:Based on what people said in the article and in the comments, it appears that EMT's may have responded slowly to the 911 calls. The comments are especially damning, saying that EMT's walked to Sauer's body and were unprepared, and that police arrived in riot gear and dogs.
The response is never fast enough when you're witnessing something like that first hand, especially if it someone close to you. But the article quotes make it sound like the reported slowness may have been partly perception. The person quoted on when they called claims that the first instance of her 911 call got deleted from her cell phone record, but not the later ones? Sounds improbable.
I was always surprised that Sauer ended up taking some of those last minute big shots. I remember a home game against Arizona where he hit from the elbow to win the game in the final seconds. And his freshman year, he ended up taking the final shot against UMASS in the NCAA, after a timeout so you got to expect it was partly planned (he airballed that one.) The guy didn't lack for confidence, that's for sure.
