A counterpoint is that Rutgers is having its best recruiting year in ages. I wonder whether it is benefitting from a perception that its players will get more NIL money due to playing in the NY media market. I don't know what else has happened that might explain the improvement in recruiting, but I did note that the coach is not new and the team went 3-6 last year, so some of the obvious explanations are out.
