what will be interesting to see is what happens to players who sign big NIL deals who never pan out on the field, I wonder if these deals are one year at a time or multi-year.  And what happens if the player is still good but gets passed by a younger player and transfers from say Alabama to Oklahoma (e.g. Jalen Hurts), I wonder how those deals work out....

We are definitely still in the "honeymoon" phase of NIL. I expect a lot of frivolous lawsuits.

BTW, someone whose opinion I really respect is very worried about female athletes. Scenarios of concern involve dangerous, obsessive types with a bit of cash able to "lure" athletes (and then stalk them, basically). My mind doesn't necessarily go there, but of course Olympic sports have been the backdrop for some awful stories.
