Good.  He should be at First Base for awhile. But apparently they refuse to do that.  Catching is going to be harder on the thumb than hitting.  Why not wait another week and put him at first till then.  

Wade is beginning to leak a little. So is Duggar.  And against lefties Ruf can play left with Slater in Center. 

Casali is a good catcher and has begun to hit a bit.  So use him and let Buster get a bit more time for the thumb. While still getting his bat in the lineup.

This group is very process driven.  Great. It’s worked. But sometimes you need to adjust. And go with gut.  Case in point. Ruf hits a mammoth HR.  Next time around he’s up with runners on first and third. Sixth inning. No outs.  Kapler puts in Wade to hit for him.  Cause they brought in a right hander. I get the platoon.  Numbers etc.  But Ruf isn’t helpless vs Righthanders.  And he’s had a lot of good ABs lately. Plus I’d rather keep his bat in if they have a lefty next time round. And save Wade for another time.

The complete (or pretty complete) inability of the Giants to score in "small ball" ways has bitten them in the a$$ the last two games and I've got a sinking feeling about this.  Are the Giants going to continue to get 2-out 2 (or 3) run dongs?  I don't think so.

Also, I fundamentally don't "get" why Analytics' "launch angle" and "only swing at pitches you can drive" can't be put on back burner when you FREAKING NEED TO SCORE THE RUNNER FROM THIRD WITH LESS THAN 2 OUTS and the D is "giving" you the run if you put it in play.  How does Farhan and Gabe's approach look when freaking Wilmer Flores looks at 3 and only 3 pitches in his AB for a K with runners on first and third and NO FREAKING outs.  Of course, the Giants fail to score.

It's so infuriating.  And WTF is up with Dickerson not tagging and going to third on Slater's deep drive to RF.  Didn't see it, but some post-game commenters said it was poor base-running (as was having Dickerson PH before the faster Duggar - both of whom walked).

On the bright side, Cueto pitched well for his 5 innings.  Hate to waste those outings from Johnny.

Wow.  Tough crowd here….

To date, SF has won 63% of their games (best in majors).  They had to be doing something right to achieve that record.  Good pitching, good defense and the three run homer (RIP, Earl Weaver….).  That is the modern day formula for success (Weaver was just ahead of his time).  

Obtain more pitching and get Posey, Longo, Belt and LaStella back on the field - that is all that is needed…
