This. He had all of 85 at bats last year. He actually has been consistent (albeit in limited playing time) over the course of his career: excluding last season his OPS+ in his other four seasons have been 95, 81, 99, 89. Slightly below average hitter but overall above replacement due to his defense. Slightly underrated because his ability to play multiple positions adds to his value as a bench player. He's delivered far more than the typical 8th round draft pick, which is a credit to him and to SF. But he's 28 years old (turns 29 this off season) so he pretty much is what he is. There's a place for him in MLB but he will never be a difference maker. If he wasn't a Stanford man we wouldn't focus on him very much I assume.
