If Hamilton will enroll in Stanford’s Master of Liberal Arts program I don’t understand how she will be eligible.  It is by rule and definition a part-time program.  You cannot enroll in more than two classes per quarter or more than three classes in any two consecutive quarters, and the program cannot be completed in less than four years.  The NCAA requires that you be a full time student, which means at least 12 units for undergrads or 9 units for a grad student; so this program won’t work. I guess it’s possible that a different master of liberal arts program may exist at Stanford, but I couldn’t find it. It’s also possible that Stanford crafted a full time masters program just for her, but that doesn’t sound like something they would do. I’m sure this all been worked out already, but I’m curious.  FWIW, admission to the program is described as highly competitive, so it’s not one of Stanford Continuing Education programs that are open to all comers.

You cannot enroll in more than two MLA SEMINARS per quarter or three MLA SEMINARS in two consecutive quarters. Not any "classes." Seems easy to get around by taking a course in another department/a non-MLA seminar each quarter to then be above 9 units and considered full-time. Everyone wants to take CS 106A anyways, no?

While obtaining the MLA degree in one year (or less than four) is indeed impossible per the rules, it's plausible she will finish it after her student-athlete career is over, as it will continue to be very much part-time as discussed.

All in all, I'm very intrigued by this and hope the football offices are paying attention.
