Incredibly stupid rule. Even worse than starting with a guy on second in extras. Here's a solution to quicken the games: keep the batter in the box and make the pitcher pitch promptly.

Agreed.  I really like the guys who work fast.  Watch some old video of Bob Gibson.  Here's an example.  During the 1968 season, this was the game in which he gave up the second most runs (5) and hits (10).  Time of game? 2:03.

BTW, that knucklehead Farhan Zaidi and overrated incompetent Gabe Kapler have shepherded the SF Giants to the third-best record in MLB (tied with your Oakland A's!) at 14-8.

The Giants OPS is now 19th in MLB, after falling as low as (at least) 27th, though their batting average is still 24th.  Last year, the Giants were 5th in OPS and 8th in runs scored.  Be interesting to see what happens if they get closer to last year's figure.  

Alternatively, the Giants' ERA is 2nd in MLB at 2.94 and was 18th in MLB at 4.64 in 2020.  If the Giants regress to that figure, they'll settle back to middle of the pack.

I tend to think the former scenario is more likely, given that there's been very little turnover in hitters whereas the pitching staff has been overhauled.
