How many of those sophomores are RS sophomores? Either way a majority of the players are uppclassmen,  winning with freshman and  sophomores is not realistic even at Bama where they can take 25+ recuiting classed every year and cut players on whim.

0.  RS SO were not included in the count.  (iirc) add 5 more if you include RS SO to the list.  

25 scholarships are the limit annually with an 85 scholarship cap -- same rules for Stanford.  scholarships are now guaranteed for 4 years at all D-1 schools, so you can't cut on whim.  again same rule for Alabama and Stanford.

our scholarship misuse is self-inflicted and has been going on for 5-6-7 years under Shaw.  same is true on aversion to playing FR and SO, especially at offensive skill positions.
